In mid-2019, BFT received a highly appreciated grant from The Very Good Foundation from Australia which allowed us to address a desperate situation in two remote villages in northeast of Siem Reap province. IN the villages of Tapour and Otakuk, the surface water used by the villages is often contaminated, leading to problems such as chronic dysentery. And in the dry season, villages may need to walk long distances to find water.
This project involves installing a total of seven deep bore wells to provide a secure water supply. Each family is also provided with a household filter to ensure the safety of the water they use. And at the primary school, in Otakuk, BFT is finalising the installation of water filtration system, consisting of a pump, head tank and cartridge filter system to provide a fully safe supply of water for the schoolchildren for drinking and for handwashing.
